After two years of building slow kit number 40936 I finally received my airworthiness certificate. Inspection went well even though I had my DAR and the FAA there. The FAA was there inspecting the DAR. I guess this happens twice a year and I was the lucky recipient. Five hours for the inspection. I had to cap off a couple wires I ran for future use and that was it. Pictures coming soon.

Congratulations Sean. Time to get all the test flight plans prepared,
to be ready for the day the weather gods decide will be right for the
first flight.

When you get your flyoff area designated, let me know. I may be
flying through the area soon, and I'll plot it on a chart
and just steer completely clear. Smile

It's just like flying on a frosty day...no big deal. Scrape clear one
area about 3" x 3" on your windshield and you're good to go.
We do it all the time up here in the winter, and heck, my car
doesn't even have synthetic vision.

Two years is really fast to build a standard 10 kit but then I realized both Strasnuts & Seano were building together so apparently you had plenty of help!
Great work. You have made a beautiful plane.
As a point of personal privilege we were also signed off yesterday for the 8A. The difference was about a 30 minute inspection followed by an hour of paperwork and hangar flying. I think the inspection went quickly because the DAR had inspected 3 of our other RV’s.  The down side is a 40 hour fly-off because of the P-Mag. Darn I had another Mag on the shelf. The other bummer is we received the typical 25 mile area but because we are situated near the state line that we cannot cross we essentially have half the flight area.

I purchased the 8A partially built with the engine hung as another builder abandoned the project. Something about a irreconcilable differences. We still had to back track a fair amount to do things our way but it definitely was a leg up. That and Stein’s magic plus no doors and heck they almost build themselves.
Congratulations on the 25 hour fly off. Good news all the way around.

Sean did a great job and had amazing discipline to work on the plane.

It will be fun to watch it fly for the first time.

I've got so much to do at home now I may just keep flying into the sunset on that first flight. Can I get to Mexico on one tank? I guess that's not in my phase 1 area.

First I'd heard of the state line thingy.  Was that spelled out in the paperwork???  Where did that come from???
