Hello Bert Berry & Capt JimBob,

I’ve tried to send an email, twice to each of you, but seem to be having a problem with having “aol.com” in your email address.

The message I’m getting back, is saying they were undeliverable and the reason was:
5.3.0 - Other mail system problem 554-'5.2.1 : (HVU:B2) http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/421hvub2.html '

Well, the link to website does indeed give the reasons for various rejections, but to a non-geek like this old age pensioner, they are totally not understandable.
Why they have to use what is, to me anyway, jargon, is absolutely useless.
For example:
“Reverse DNS is a way of associating an IP address with its hostname. The reverse DNS identifier is contained in the PTR portion of the IP Zone File. The IP Zone File contains all the different ways that your IP and domain name can be associated; each association serves a different need.
<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>AOL requires that all connecting Mail Transfer Agents have established reverse DNS, regardless of whether it matches the domain.
<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>Reverse DNS must be in the form of a fully-qualified domain name. Reverse DNS containing in-addr.arpa are not acceptable, as these are merely placeholders for a valid PTR record. Reverse DNS consisting of IP addresses are also not acceptable, as they do not correctly establish the relationship between an IP address and its associated domain.
<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>Reverse DNS that may be similar to dynamic IP space (containing pool, dhcp, dyn, etc.) may be treated as suspect, and should therefore should be changed to reflect a fully-qualified domain name with standard MTA reverse DNS. [Example: mail.aol.com]”

So, nothing anywhere near resembling a clear and precise reason then.
Why not state what the reason is in simple English, whether it’s UK or US English?

I’ll try again tomorrow . . . and the next day . . . . and the next . . . then on my next Birthday!!

Best Regards,
Barry

Barry: I think someone from the Federal Government wrote the message
you received regarding the aol email message. I read it several
times, still do not know what it says or means. Morris

Hi Jim,

It's OK now, aol seem to have fixed what seems to have been a glitch in the
system yesterday.
Your offer of help though is much appreciated.

Very Best Regards,
Barry

Hi JimBob,

Yes, I did!
I tried to email you to say “Thanks”, but it seems aol.com email addresses had a glitch and I got messages saying my emails were undeliverable.
I was going to try again today!

Very Best Regards,
Barry
