Dana, Quicks have their drawbacks, all planes do, even Kolbs. :-} It will be as safe you are so if it passes inspection and you like the way it flies, have fun. You said the price is very attractive, maybe you can fly it until you tire of not having a Kolb, sell it for a profit, and find yourself a nice Mk III.

Hi Dana/Gang,
LOVE the photo with the planes under the Golden Gate!! (Gotta do that someday!)
Dana, Sounds like you are waiting for someone to talk you out of buying the Quicksilver.. Maybe that should tell you something. I'd listen to that little voice.
For myself, I started in hang gliders, got my PPL in rented Cessnas, got bored and flew Acro in Citrabrias, and now own my KOLB M3x for Fun. (Also want inexpensive to fly, no medical and MINE)
I want to fly Paragliders but NEVER want to parachute.. But I gotta have something!
Its ALL GOOD.. IMHO and I think its better to have a plane you can afford than nothing at all.
And, any plane can kill you... look at KOLB history.
I love the fact that its TOTALLY your responsibility and totally up to you to determine how safe you can be (or not!).
If you get the QUICK please let us know how it flies.. especially compared to a KOLB. Good luck deciding and have FUN in any case.
My only suggestion to anyone is to fly it first before you buy to help you decide.
My 2 cents.

Waiting for upgrade parts.

I've already flown this particular Quick quite a bit, a few years ago. It flies like a pig, compared to a Kolb... but it needs some attention and rigging work. I'm also told you can make a Quick fly a LOT better with a wire kit to reduce the dihedral and better support the tail, but I've never flown one so modified.
