Hi, I fly a FSII, and have never flown a Mark III, so I am no expert
on the Mark III performance. However, I think the reason we don`t
discuss STOL performance on the Kolb list, is because the Kolb line
of aircraft is notorious for taking off and climbing like a sick
angel. Numerous times, after taking off in front of other people,
mostly other pilots. I have heard the comment "I have never seen an
aircraft climb like that" after I landed. (And I don`t hang on the
prop) If STOL is one of the main things you are looking for in an
aircraft, you won`t be sorry with a correctly built Kolb. Just my two
