I can't figure out how to install the Dzus fastener for my oil door.
The Zenith manual skips over this step.
My guess is to match drill a large hole to fit the wing nut part and then rivet the "S" shaped piece underneath on the door frame.
The question then becomes how the wing-nut part is retained when the door is opened. It seems like the fastener would just fall out with an open door.
Thanks,

Spruce has some little spring rings that will hold them in aluminum, but some people use little o rings in the top groove ....Fred

The "S" spring is held in place with rivets. I'm not sure what Zenith intends for you to do with it but I used AN426-AD-3-X rivets. The -3 being 3/32 and the "X" being what ever length you need.
As for the wingnut portion, I wasn't happy with the factory retention clip systems so I use a gasket makers punch to make a small disk of aluminum. I then drilled out a centre hole just big enough to fit in the retention groove of the wingnut shaft. A slit from the outer edge to the center hole allowd me to flex the disk enough to get it on. So far the two fasteners I did this way are working great.
Just to forwarn you, if you have to order any Dzus parts in from say Spruce or Wicks you might want to get some help from somone who understands the Dzus numbering system. It is pretty nasty.
