Some of you interested in tweeking the performance of your Kitfoxes may be ineterested in adding vortex generators. This has been discussed in the past. For about $100 I am having some fun.
IAS at stall (clean) 33-34 mph down from 37-38mph. A series of stalls was conducted just prior to adding the VG's with double sided tape.
IAS at cruise 5000 to 5200 rpm 110 mph up from 107 mph.
Not so easily measured, lift off with slight tail down attitude was 200' or less. Rate of climb felt significantly better with a more nose down attitude. Cruise trim setting had to be more nose down to maintain straight and level. Stands to reason given the increase in airspeed.
This is pretty much hearsay as no effort was made to correct for temperature or barometric pressure or calibration of tach. It is enough to say that I am convinced that the VG's have improved the Kitfox Classic performance with a very small investment in time and money.
One caveat regarding slow flight or slow approach. Level attitude at +/- 35mph or so yields about 500 foot per minute decent and results in a solid arrival and minimal ground roll. Time it right and you will have to power up to get off the numbers
