This is from the latest installation instructions. I have removed the countersunk nutplates. You only need those if you have #10 nutplates holding your old cowling on. The Jaguar cowling is held in place with the #8 screws.
I can see I forgot to put the Camloc receptacles in the previous list. You won't need the countersunk receptacles. The cowling is countersunk. The receptacle you need is 214-16N.
As for the screw in place of a camloc at the front of the upper cowling, I originally intended to put a camloc in there. After installing the camlocs on the side, I realized they stick too far into the inlet. If you want, you can run a tap through the nutplate and make it real easy to remove the screw. Once you snug it down, the friction on the screw keeps it from backing out. Plus, even if you lose it in flight, it's not a big deal. The leading edge will come up about 1/4 inch. Ask me how I know.
Good question Boris.

Subject: ordering parts for Cowling installation. Part 1 - more questions about CamLocs
Hi Gary,
How was your vacation?
I have a couple of questions.
Question 1: which CamLoc receptacle to order?
AircraftSpruce has 2 receptacles with plain rivet holes (without countersink) - standard(244-16) and narrow(244-16N). http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/receptacle.php . Which one do we need?
Question 2: Section 9 of instructions, paragraph 4, calls for 8-32 screw on the leading edge of the hinged upper cowl. Why did you decide against using a CamLoc there?
Thank you,
-Boris

#yiv884050932 {font-size:10pt;font-family:arial, sans-serif;background-color:#ffffff;color:black;}#yiv884050932 p{margin:0px;} Thanks! I don't have the current instructions, they are with Dave and the cowl in Memphis!
The early instructions didn't say what camlocs were used.
That means you'll need the special Camloc pliers to install the 4002 studs in the grommets.

Wow! They must be making them in China now. When I bought my pair back in the 80's they were $30+!
Alternatively, if you want me to install the studs in the gromments, which you can then plug into your cowl doors and install the retainer snap ring without any special tools, we can arrange to have them pre-loaded for you.
