When installing the Avery Rudder Cable Fairing, does one still install the bolt / clamp to retain / locate the 3/8" diameter polyethylene tube as shown on drawing # 34 or does this fairing alone pushing against this tube provide sufficient retention?
Thanks.

Brett, I installed both the clamp and fairing. More structurally sound and retains the poly tube much better than relying on the fairing alone.

I second Jeff's installation. You would hate for something to jam back there someday if the tubing came loose.John Brunke

Thanks for the responses!
I will install the clamp.
So, to take it a bit further, I am assuming that the fairing should not trap the 3/8" polyethylene tube against the fuselage skin so that the rudder cable can be removed with the fairing riveted in place. Thus, the 3/8" x 1 1/8" oval opening that I have made should be longer. Correct?
Thanks.

I have that tube extending out into the fairing. The fairing is actually helping to direct the tube/cable toward the rudder horn. I guess if I had to remove the cable, six rivets drilled out and the fairing is off. To be honest, I doubt if I ever will need to remove those cables.
