Steve Biele, I just got your Email and want to let you know I am still investgating the situation. I have been using 30 degrees of flap on landing which seems ok. I will be starting my anual in july and will try to determined the cause. I will be looking at the hole in the fuse to see if the flap arm is riding on the top side of it which at high speed which could be binding it. Will keep you posted. TEX

I gues about 3 months or so the was a thread about the flap motor not being able to extend the flaps all the way down.
I had a side bar with you about a month before that and you thought we just need to put in a heavier (more powerful) motor.
I think Tex was going to do some experimentation with it.
Like his mine goes to 30 degrees without any problem, but seems unable to retract the flaps all the way no matter what approach speed I use. on the ground there's no issue...

Ok,
Now I am filled in. We had gone to less flap travel some time ago, for several other reasons including this one. Yes there is a motor available with about twice the rated torque as the current one.
This could be an option.

Nick we have been trying to get this info, for this heavier duty flap motor for some time now for one of our customers, but no one seems to be able to find it. Mark has certainly tried.

Nick,
could you please publish the A/C Spruce number of the stronger flap motor in case they sell it?
Or where else to get it?
Or can I buy one from Arion?

Seeing as this topic seems to have stalled again, must be some sort of flap motor disease , I offer the following:
http://products.danahermotion.com/v41/Advisor.asp?User=Actuators_Linear
These are what appears to be the source of the original flap motor which is an Electrac 1. The Electrac 2 series offer more thrust but the package is larger and the travel speed lower. The D1210A5 model seems to be in the ballpark for thrust and it has a limit switch option, as per the current unit, and a potentiometer option which would be useful for flap indicator or control systems. The motor end is roughly 76 by 148 mm compared to the existing 40 by 73 mm so space may be an issue, I have not checked at all.
Hope this provides some useful clues.

A bit more checking on this and there seems to be another candidate in this range. This is the PR12-02-2A65 model family.
http://products.danahermotion.com/v41/ModelDetail.asp?User=Actuators_Linear&PkgOrder=542
This offers a 250 lb force and a number of options including one which would be very useful for the flap system.
"Position follower input provides the possibility to make the extension tube position follow the setting of a customer provided trim potentiometer"
I could see this providing a "dial the flap setting" control instead of having to hold the finger on the switch. To get the detailed dimensions you need to download the catalogue from the downloads tab on the product spec page.
