Any of you CT Kolbers know anything about this? No injuries reported, fortunately.

Try this:

Looks like a wooden airplane, maybe a Minimax.

His engine quit just after take-off, according to the local paper. He had to be rescued from up in a tree. Small cuts and bruises, again per the paper. It was at Skylark Airport in Broadbrook (East Windsor) Ct.

Bill, any word of the pilots name? The colors of the plane don't look familiar.

No idea who he is. The paper didn't say. I was there for a half hour a couple of days before.  Bad weather, and nobody around. There were no ultralights tied down within sight, so it was possibly in a hanger. The field is closed Monday, but if I get a chance I will check with Mike (manager) to get the story. I am interested in what engine, possible causes of failure, etc. As far as I know, they only sell 100LL there now. Any form of mogas has to be brought in. Skylark is only about 5 miles from me.

Dana- did you look at the news video from Channel 8 that John posted? He said it might be a Mini-Max.  The reporter was holding up a part of an airfoil, and the internal structure was visible.

Bill, For what it's worth, I used to own a Mini Max. The part the reporter held up sure looked like a Mini Max aileron.
