I am doing the initial adjustment on my electric trim. I set the 7/16 inch clearance called for in the manual. I then run the unit all the way down. When I run it back up it goes past the 7/16 inch setting and hits the tube above. Do I have a bad unit or am I missing something in my adjustment procedure? Thanks for any input.

Jim,
I am only a looker on a Series V, but the rod end on the end of the jack
screw on the local V is snugged in pretty tight. I suspect there might be a
little slop in the gear train. I think what I would do is drop the rod end
as far as it will go and then cycle the actuator to the top and then
reposition the rod end so there is no contact with the tube. My guess is
that the only time you will ever trim to the extremes of the movement is
during the test phase when you will demonstrate controllability in the case
of a run away trim system.

I need use full up for approach and landing with flaps and still have to hold a little back pressure. I don't think this is isolated to my aircraft. I don't think I have ever needed full down though.
