Someone asked me tonight about military contracting and red star aircraft... since I don't have any interest in that, I'd never looked into the answer.

Is military contracting allowed under experimental exhibition?  If not, what are people doing contract work under -- public use?

Jon

Don't ask; don't tell.

Hi Brian quite a few years ago I was Violated by the FAA and one of their response was that I should have gotten a waver. As with all things first KNOW the rules, then you go to the controlling agency and ask permission to break the rules. Thats how Airshows are done.

I know. Mine was what is commonly referred to as a "smart-assed" answer.

Experimental Exhibition is for air shows ("demonstrating the unique characteristics..." in the regs).  Experimental R&D is for military contracting.  It is possible to have dual airworthiness certification so you can do both.
