Ian,
Are you sure about the saving ? The 201B is just over $ 200, and this FT60 is listed at $ 295.
Cheers
Karl

As Frans has said there is no real option but to install two flow sensors
on the 914.
There is now a new certified flow sensor which the LAA say should be as
acceptable to them as the flowscan 201b. It is the FT60 "red cube" made by
Electronics International Inc of Bend, Oregon. It is supposed to by some
25% cheaper. Grand Rapids (who make the EIS I have fitted) are now using
them but I have yet to get my hands on one (or two).

Correction: I meant 201A6, which is what we should be using, according to your email of 7/10/08 ?

Karl and Jan
I am quoting what I have been told by both Grand Rapids and Part for Aircraft. I am waiting for an MGL FF1 (with the FT60 sensors) to go into the repair of G-IRON.
The 201B (and 201C) are capable of higher flow rates with slightly reduced resolution but, I believe, are still acceptable to the LAA . The Marine versions are probably also acceptable, cost less but are heavier.

I have the mgl ff1 and the ft60 red cube and there is a snag. The ft60 has a k factor of 68000 but the ff1 only allows k factors up to 60000! Have you dealt with this Ian?
Thanks
Scott

Resurrecting an old thread, I know, but I just found this after a Google search for info on using an FT-60 Red Cube with an FF-1. The MGL website has info on setting the right K-factor when using the FT-60:
http://www.mglavionics.com/Red_Cube_Instructions.pdf
Quote: | The EI manual lists the K-factor of the FT-60 at 68,000 pulses per Gallon. Since the MGL Avionics system uses a ‘liters K-factor’, this value has to be divided by 3.785 (Gallon/Liter ratio).
Use the following in the setup:
K-Factor: 18,000
(Every FT-60 has the same K-factor) |
