One place in the Install manual it shows 3.93" from the head/flange, but it's unclear HOW EXACTLY you're measuring that (center of the exhaust in a bent tube, outside of the arc, inside of the arc)? that creates a lot of variation and potentially a lot of distance.
Then in some other documentation I see it says 2.76" from the head.... something I found online...
confusion, confusion. Can someone tell me EXACTLY where those darn EGT probes are supposed to be drilled in and how to measure it for most accurace location?
Thanks!

You have it at 3.93. Measure from the center of the tube at the flange and straight back along the side. Mark it and drill it. If you need to clear something with the outside probe end then angle it up or down. You'll be good to go.

What exactly do you mean by "straight back along the side"? The arc length of the outside of the tube would be drastically different than the arc length of the inside of the tube...... so should I calculate the arc length in the 'center' of the tube as you initially mentioned?
Thanks!

The distance is along the upper surface of the exhaust pipe.
I would not go too crazy on exactitude since GA grade EGT meters
are not terribly accurate anyway, i.e., ± 50°C out of the box without
careful calibration.
The main idea is to have all the EGTs installed at the same relative
distance from the valve so they are comparable. (I have 4 EGTs
and 4 CHTs on my 912s into my Blue Mountain)
