John, I think you'll find this is just the "newness" of your plane. Mine was stiff the first few flights too but by the end of the test period it was nice and smooth. Make sure you've got some lube on the nylon bearings and it will probably work its way in before too long.

I am seriously considering adding a rolling bearing to my nose strut to reduce friction while flying.
Looking at ACS it was unclear if I wanted a DP ( my guess ) or DSP bearing. Anyone have the part number?
Thinking about it more, since I have a gap between the strut stop plate and the support shelf, adding a 2" ID thrust bearing between the two would be the easiest and most foolproof way. Has anyone done this or found such a thrust bearing?

One would think Zenith would have found a fix to this shortcoming by now.
I put nylon sliders on mine and it helps considerably but is still heavy and does not move freely as it should. Even when I first flew the demo 701 the stiff rudder got my attention and it had tons of time on it. There has to be a better way. Did they use the same system on the 750? If they did it shows they don't care as it has been a topic of disappointment on the 701 for a long time so they are certainly well aware of it. In spite of this I do love my 701 very much.

Ron, it might be a "pilot preference" thing with regard to the rudder feel. I was happy with the rudder feel on the demo plane and am completely satisfied with the feel of my plane.
As for the 750, there is some difference on how the lower bearing fits together. The lower bearing block is a black plastic material and has the "V" block built into it. There is no metal to metal contact in this setup. I only have the one demo flight for time on a 750 and don't recal there being any rudder feel issues. Additionally, I found the 750 to be more of a "feet flat on the floor" plane that the 701. Not the the 701 has bad adverse yaw, I just found the 750 that much better.

Not to "re-invent the wheel" but---- have you done away with the "V" notch
the strut sits in while in flight? If not, lift the nose off the ground
and watch how this assembly flex(s). Terrible!!!!! After seeing this,
I did away with the "V" notch and made mine without the notch. (many years
ago)

I wonder if anyone has removed the notches completely, making it more like
the Cessna's and Piper's we all learned to fly on. I can't see myself
landing any aircraft with out both feet feverishly working the rudders, so
centering the nose wheel would not be needed, nor be an issue for me.

yes and replacing the "old metal V notch" with "Teflon" without the notch.
This gives a lot more surface are for the "pin" which goes through the nose
strut to slide on.
If new on site, check archives, should be a lot of info there also.

The 750 uses the design from the 601/650: a large black/gray nylon block
with the V notch formed by the nylon. So no steel on aluminum. Having had a
601 kit in the past I ordered the 601 parts and adapted them for my 701.
Haven't flown it yet.
