Seems to me that may be Joe Breuer's old Tiger that he sold quite a few
years ago to someone in CA. Was based up at Columbia (I think) for some
time. If so it has the IO-360-A1B6D (?) engine out of an RG Cardinal.
Anyone know what the N-number is?

All of the planes converted to the IO-360 and IO-540 engines started
life as Cheetahs and had the Tiger center spar conversion, bringing the
GW up to 2400lb.

It isn't difficult. It just doesn't make any sense. You don't need to carry around the extra weight. If it were me doing the conversion (IO360 into a Cheetah/Traveler), I'd keep the 2200 gross weight. Unless you carry a lot of passengers and baggage frequently, it don't make sense.
Even if you loaded the plane over 2200 lbs, the only thing you'd need to worry about is burning off the excess fuel before your insurance company investigates the crash. The Traveler/Cheetah spar is strong enough to handle anything you'd care to try to do with it.

No one! There is no multiple STC available to purchase. There was only
one multiple STC issued and it is not for sale, at this time anyhow.

It isn't difficult. It just doesn't make any sense. You don't need to
carry around the extra weight. If it were me doing the conversion (IO360
into a Cheetah/Traveler), I'd keep the 2200 gross weight. Unless you
carry a lot of passengers and baggage frequently, it don't make sense.

Even if you loaded the plane over 2200 lbs, the only thing you'd need to
worry about is burning off the excess fuel before your insurance company
investigates the crash. The Traveler/Cheetah spar is strong enough to
handle anything you'd care to try to do with it.

Brock, I think a turbo-normalized Tiger would be awesome. Tell you what: you donate your plane for 3 to 5 years, you buy the engine and turbo, you pay for the DER, and I'll do all the labor for free. All I ask is to be half owner of the STC.

All of the planes converted to the IO-360 and IO-540 engines started life as Cheetahs and had the Tiger center spar conversion, bringing the GW up to 2400lb.

Seems to me that may be Joe Breuer's old Tiger that he sold quite a few
years ago to someone in CA. Was based up at Columbia (I think) for
some
time. If so it has the IO-360-A1B6D (?) engine out of an RG Cardinal.
Anyone know what the N-number is?

And don't forget the MT or Hartzell CS prop to go with it. Another
$10K. What are you going to have invested when it is all done - $140K?

Brock, I think a turbo-normalized Tiger would be awesome. Tell you what:
you donate your plane for 3 to 5 years, you buy the engine and turbo,
you pay for the DER, and I'll do all the labor for free. All I ask is to
be half owner of the STC.

Is that your IO-360B1A with a CS prop? What about adding a Turbo Normalizer?

Be patient. I'm working on an STC for an IO360 into a Tiger that is
1/5 as much work as what has previously been done.

It isn't difficult. It just doesn't make any sense. You don't need
to carry around the extra weight. If it were me doing the conversion
(IO360 into a Cheetah/Traveler), I'd keep the 2200 gross weight.
Unless you carry a lot of passengers and baggage frequently, it
don't make sense.
Even if you loaded the plane over 2200 lbs, the only thing you'd
need to worry about is burning off the excess fuel before your
insurance company investigates the crash. The Traveler/Cheetah spar
is strong enough to handle anything you'd care to try to do with it.
