I've recently had my 582 overhauled and after tweaking the carbs she was really running quite well. With cooling temps, last Sunday I changed plugs and leaned the mid-range a tad by raising the needle-jet clips one knotch. Then I went flying and everything seemed normal on climbout and once around the pattern. On final, just before touchdown, I tried a blast of power to soften the landing and to my surprise, the engine died.
Once rolling to a stop I had a hard time restarting. Even then, engine would miss and sputter between 2500 and 4000 rpms. I did notice that EGTs and CHT's on aft cylinder were substantially lower while this was going on. Seemed to read & run OK at idle and at higher rps though. So I packed 'er up and went home.
Under the cowlings, no visible mechanical issues. Today on startup, idled fine, run up to 4000 rpms was normal. I cut power back to idle but when I try to increase power again, engine sputters and dies above 2500 rpm. Same result with both CDI's or either on.
Also: Rebuilt Mikui fuel pump at overhaul, plenty of gas and fuel filters are clear. As I write thisI recognize that there is also a fuel flow transducer upstream of the fuel pump that could be blocking fuel flow. I'm going out to by-pass that right now.
Any other ideas?

If you raised the needle jet clips you leaned mixture since the jet needle was dropped lower into the jet.

Well, for starters I'd move the clips back where they were, make sure
you've got the needle O-rings, and see what happens. Maybe she's not
ready for winter yet.

Marcos.
Stock jetting should work well until temps get below 40F - 50 F at the highest.
Clip on 3rd notch from top . NEver higher.
Once winter sets in move to bottom notch. we talking about 10 to 15% more fuel one notch lower.
If you EGT went down you gotta be too rich......... one notch should not kill engine .......... Unless you put needle clip on top of the plastic piece inside the slide ( yes I have seen this many times before)
Try that .......
Cheers
