Once again I really enjoyed the yearly Lightning fly-in and homecoming this past weekend in Shelbyville. The entire Lightning and Jabiru crew went out of their way to plan a fun and informative event and to insure everyone had a great time. Their hospitality was outstanding as always. Friday evening burgers and brats in the hangar with the annual creeper races made for an entertaining evening. Saturday's fly out to breakfast and then the Lightning round robin races and flight planning and navigation event went well, as did the informative briefings by Pete and Nick on he Lightning and Jabiru engine. Saturday evening we once again all went to the Bell Buckle Cafe for great food and socializing.
Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera, so hopefully others that were there will share their pictures and provide a list of the race and other event plaque winners. It was truly a fun time.
I'm everyone that was in attendance will join me in saying thanks to the Lightning and Jabiru crew for a great weekend.
Blue Skies,
Buz
PS: As an update on Joe Mathias, I just talked to Linda this morning and Joe is still doing OK, still in the nursing home and working on his daily physical therapy. So please continue to keep Joe and Linda in your thoughts and prayers.

Yes Buz another great Lightning Fly-in. It's always great when you can talk to other builders face-to-face and see what they may have done a little differently then you and perhaps take away a thought for a mod to your own plane.
Seeing old friends is great and meeting new ones is always a pleasure.
The hospitality is always 1st class from Arion and Jabiru team and this year was no different. The whole team there does a superb job of organizing this event.
Also want to thank you for your efforts on build the plaques and setting up and monitoring the air races as well as the creeper races.
It's pretty cool to see 6 or so Lightnings take off at once.
And when you'r # 5 in a organized gaggle landing for breakfast it's a pretty cool site.
Made it back home safely yesterday. 4 hours non-stop to Tampa Bay. 5500' smooth air and you could see forever....
Already looking forward to next year's event.
fly safely,
Bear
