Hi, I am laying up the Kitfox soon to update the fuel system. I currently have the very old aluminum tank behind the dash, with the only vent being a small manually operated valve on the firewall. Operation of this valve in flight is impossible and the new system is more reliable. I have the new behind the seat tank, and the instructions, which address the later aircraft that were issued with this tank, I think.
If anyone has put this plastic wedge shaped tank in their aircraft and has photos of the installation, or drawings, or even a detailed description. It might be of some assistance to me. I don't think there is anything dreadfully complicated about it, but it's always possible to learn from the solutions of others. I plan to put an electric pump in line with the fuel line just as a backup also.
My current installation is two 13 gal. wing tanks, with aluminum fuel lines running down behind each door. There are drains at the low point behind the door on each side. Metal fuel lines along the fuselage side beneath the seat and up behind the firewall left and right to the header. Then from the bottom of the header to a gascolator on the right front bottom firewall with rubber fuel line to the two stroke fuel pump mounted high on the left firewall, and finally two rubber lines to each carb. This is as shown in the original plans and has been recommended to be updated some time ago. This system had been very reliable, and I seldom find air in the header. Fuel flow by gravity is over 40 litres per hour as things are.
Anyway, time to change out all the rubber and update the system, any ideas or solutions will help.

Here's some lo-rez info. Let me know if you need more and I'll try to dig it out of the archives. You'll notice I had the lines go aft to the seat-belt attachments. I thought this gave a better lead to the blue flex lines coming out of the wing roots. I fold every time I fly and it's important that I not have to futz with the fuel lines when I fold / unfold. This system works quite well. You'll also note my tank is behind the seat bulkhead instead of in front. This gave a better lead to the aft fuel lines and helped bury the header tank drain behind the kink in the lower fuselage profile. You can also just barely see the large red cylinder in front of the header tank which is a race-car unit. The aluminum angles running around the area are my baggage compartment. The floor, (in place in the pictures,) is 1/8" fiberglass honeycomb and the walls (not shown) are 1/8" corrugated plastic. Questions?

Dave, I have 13 & 6 gallon wing tanks with 1/4" Tygon lines to shut off ball valves then thru see thru filters on each side about head high affixed to the down tubes behind the seat. I saw these on Lynn Maddson's plane and liked the see thru filters. Tygon tubeing from each filter to the plastic header behind the right seat, a vent line off the top of header tank to right hand 13 gal tank.. There is an aluminum line out the bottom of the header with a valve then thru the belly so I can sump or drain the header which is the lowest point in the system. Aluminum tube out of header tank to left side of fuselage, under the seat forward and up with a rubber hose to a ball valve mounted under the panel with an extension rod to the bottom of the panel mounted on the cross member. There is an 1/8" primer line teed into the 1/4" Tygon line after it comes out of the valve and before that 1/4" line passes thru high on the firewall to the Mikuni vacuum pump on the front side of the firewall. I don't have pictures. Reading this might not be easy to follow. But, as you can see I do not have a gascolator. With this setup a gascolator really wouldn't acccomplish anything that I can see.
