Lowell,
Do you know of a list of "never dos"? I haven't fired my new engine
up but understand that there are some things I shouldn't do. I will, of
course, go through the install and ops manual meticulously before
starting, but I'm doing significant mods and would be interested in
knowing things that are either buried in the manuals or aren't in them
at all.

Thanks,

Guy Buchanan

Guy,
What that was suggesting is that he did not do the pull the plug and look
for a spark while cranking routine. Apparently with an intermittent ground
to the plug, that can cause permanent damage to the ignition system.

Incidentally, I like the email type forums for the simple reason that I read
every post and sometimes learn something that is of significance that I
would have likely missed in a topic oriented forum. Your mention of the
routing of the fuel lines from the wing tanks to the header tank is a case
in point. My first project had the header tank aft of the baggage sack and
running them back along the top tube was a no brainer. Your mention of
doing the same thing with your behind the seat header tank solves a massive
crowding problem at the aft wing spar in my new project. Thanks for the
tip.
Lowell
