Hi Chris,

I am in the process of testing 5 Sensenich props for Sensenich and run a 68" 3 blade on my plane. I set all kinds of props up. Give me a call and I'll be happy to help you out. I can also help if you decide to purchase one.

Hi Roger I have a question about my setup. I,m running a 290g in a rebel and
a four blade warp drive. It works good but I top out at about 2600 or less
and 110 mph at sea level. This motor is rated at 2700 and t-o at 2800.
Should I consider a little less pitch? With the tail on the ground all
blades are at 3deg. If less pitch, how much approximately, and what numbers
would I shoot for and under what flight regime. I know a lot of this is in
the archives but they don,t currently work. Ray

Hi Ray,

The answer may come down to a personal choice. Some like the full rpm range and performance so then yes you could remove a little pitch to bring the rpm up a little. My guess for the pitch reduction would be about 1/4 degree to get the last 100 rpm. On the other hand some don't like being at the max rpm and worry a little or they try to get a little more speed out of the slightly courser pitch. Some though have too much pitch and don't know that they are overloading the engine which also causes extra fuel burn, loss of climb and loss of the very thing they are trying to gain and that's speed. If you can't get the torque or HP out of the engine because the prop is over pitched then it isn't good for the engine and self defeating for flight characteristics
You may want to ask yourself how much will that extra 100 rpm do for you and is it worth it? If you think you want it then make the adjustment. There is nothing lost here because if you don't like it you can always put it back. Personally I don't think the extra 100 rpm will give you much extra speed, but maybe a very slight extra climb. Your fuselage plays a very big part on the speed of the aircraft and it's not always about more HP or prop. That said matching a prop to engine and prop pitch is very important.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Thank you Roger I,m pretty happy with the way things are really. It does
everthing pretty good and if anything the motor seems to be picking up a
little power as the hours increase. I thought I was having heat issues since
I replaced the cht plug type sensor and was going over 400 too easily but
have since learned that lycoming specifies the bayonet local and plug type
sensors read higher. The 110 top speed is ok with me and these planes are
draggy enough plus the ineffiency of a 4 blade says I,m not going much
faster without burning a lot of fuel. Ray

Roger,
I have been following your posts for some time now on the Kolb list.
I am an ex Kolb driver and now have a Highlander with a 912S "fuel injected" and a 74" Kiev.
I've talked to Sensnich about a longer "up in the 70's" ground adjustable prop and they said they had one in development.
Do you know anything about it?

Hi Gary,
I have not seen a prop fro Sensenich in the 70's. I am currently testing a couple of 3 blades for them and a couple of 2 blades. Be careful about over propping with a 74+" prop. You have to have the torque and HP to turn it with an efficient pitch angle. You could get too long and have to reduce the pitch angle to a point to be a poor performer. You may also get to much inertia out at the tips for the 912 gearbox too.

Roger,
Thanks for the reply.
I am happy with the Keiv and it's performance.
I was just looking for a prop that could be changed easily.
