Typical, just clicked on the send button and then remembered what I meant
to ask in the last email...
I have noted comments on thenlist re the different wings types that were
available for the KF IV (and probably the 5, etc), namely 1050lb and
1200lb (?).
What is the difference between the two, and how to I tell what type I have
in my kit? ( I bought it part finished, and can't find any reference to
which one it is in either the manual, or the Skystar documentation. The
kit was originally shipped in mid 1994.

My experience agrees with Ron's. I ordered my kit from Denney in late 2002
and it was deiliverd from Skyster in March 2003 - CCU 008. The "U" is long
wing as I understand it.

Hi Guy,
You've already got lot's of good response on this one. However, this is an
old topics -and it's Skystar's production numbers as far as I'll know.
The plain number is Denney's production series, and the alpha numeric is
Skystars, -hmmm wonder about the next generations numbering scheme..
John, can you fill in here?
The only place there is some "official" info about; "there is some other
numbers", is in the SB's (service bulletins) and SL's (service letters).
So-, Skystars S/N is "unique" and give all the info about your plane.
Maybe someone know the exact meaning (or coding) of this numbering scheme?
Torgeir.

S7 indicates series 7
0505 indicates fuselage fabricated in the 5th month of 2005
081 indicates the 81st S7 built

That's the problem. The SB's and SL's all reference a four digit number
serial number. I have to go by the manufacturing date. I'd like to
correlate my number to the four digit number. (Although it really doesn't
matter, since I answered every SL and SB that remotely applied.)

OK., Guy,
Well lets look at the SB's. They are made based on reports / feedback /
incident reported by owners / operators of aircrafts.
When the factory find "common" failures in the basic construction or parts
used herein (parts del. with the kit) that must be corrected, they issue a
Service Bulletin to address mandatory or recommended changes to the
aircraft.
The involved aircraft is listed here by serial numbers, groups of numbers,
or in some cases valid for all aircraft of that type, I.E. Kitfox Model
IV 1050 (this latter is only valid for all S/N of the model IV 1050, and
if Skystar ever made this model their alpha numeric numbers is also valid
here).
There's no need for you to convert this number in any way for use in the
SB matter. When a SB is valid for your plane, your number is stated there
(yes your alpha numeric), either as valid ALL serial numbers or as a
listed group of serial number.
There is two different dates we must be aware of, the delivery date from
the factory and the construction date (year of manufacture).
The manufacturer of Kitfox kit use the deliv. date as reference for their
own records, and this is the basement for specific individs when dealing
with SB's and SL's.
Remember, the model IV 1200 is based on all the prev. models, all the way
from the very first model 1.
Most of the corrections / improvements is already built into the model IV
1200 by Skystar, and this is the main reason for that your S/N is not
present in the SB list, however, any valid for all S/N "model IV 1200"
will include your Kitfox.
Have a look at the newer Skystar models, series 5, 6 and 7 -you'll find
plenty of alphanumeric numbers there, now you know why.
Hope this help.
Regards
Torgeir
