Folks,
Just to let you know, I upgraded my brakes last month and have a write up about it in the upcoming newsletter. The new brake lines are from a company in California, named Bonaco. I heard about them from a buddy of mine who's in the late stages of building an RV-9. The company has a kit for almost all the different models of RV's, so they've been doing this for a while. When I called to get some info, the manager there, Brett Jarvis, was extremely helpful in letting me know all about their product line.
I was the first Ligrhtning to get the Bonaco brake lines and after several weeks of use now, I wanted to report that I'm extremely satisfied with the product.
When the article gets published, I hope you take the time to read it. There's some pics in the article so you can see the product. By the way, I am not getting any money for touting Bonaco, I just think the quality of the product is superb and ease of install is notable and wanted to make sure you were aware of an alternate brake line system.
If you have questions, I'll be happy to reply.
Happy flying and braking....
Bear

Bear,
Just wondering if you replace the entire system of brake lines (from the brake cylinders) or just the area near the wheels?
Blue Skies,
Buz

Hi Bear,
At last year's Sun-n-Fun fly in, I peered into a Rans S-7 and noticed it had stainless steel braided brake lines and I thought that that was the way to go. Now there may, or may not be, a thing wrong with the 1/8" clear, compression fitting brake lines that are the standard in use for Lightning kit planes, and they are certainly easier to route, but they're not the accepted standard in the light plane industry, from what I've seen.
I like your method much better, even though it may be more expensive.
The main questions I have concern the fitting and hose sizes, and their lengths. If you have that information, can you make it available to the group? Here in Houston, TX, there are some good companies that sell AN hose materials, or they can fabricate the hoses for you, if you do not have the mandrels or expertise to do so yourself. If you have that info, some builders, me amongst them, would really appreciate it very much.
Thanks for improving the breed.
Regards,
Bernardo, kit #110
