Does anyone have or use a tow-bar for the Lightning? Am unable lift nose, steer, and push back into hangar without assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Yes Mike: I believe there are several with the tow bar attach fittings. I got mine from Bogert Aviation. I drilled and tapped the front wheel yoke for the pins, then drilled the wheel pant in order to accept the tow bar. their PN is 04M-PKRVA.

Build a small wooden platform with a retangular hole in it to accept the front tire up to about the rim (below the wheel pant). Put four castor wheels on the bottom of the platform. Make a small wooden ramp with two latches to attach it temporarily to the platform. Grab the prop and pull the front wheel up the ramp and let it drop into the hole. Remove the ramp and you can push the plane any direction you want from the prop or cowel. When you get it into position push down on the tail and swing the nose wheel off the platform. Remove the platform and swing the nose wheel back into your parking position. If you want a picture send your email address and I will forward it to you . Gary N335AL Sn 133

I must have missed something here, I can't see how placing the nosewheel on a platform with casters will make it roll backwards any more nicely than it does at present. Is there a steering bar in there somewhere?

To ednan1(at)aol.com (ednan1(at)aol.com)
You need to go the Matronics web site and remove yourself from the list. No of us on this list have the ability to do that.
Best regards,
Mark

The problem with pushing a Lightning or any other aircraft with a swiveling nose wheel backwards is the wheel turns to either side and you can't stear it. With the castered wheels on the cart it doesn't matter if the nose wheel turns as you can push the nose either left or right at the same time you are pushing it backwards into the hanger. I used 2 inch casters as I have smooth asphalt. If your ramp is rougher just use bigger casters but you will need a longer ramp to get it onto the cart. Gary
