I’ll have a go:
Sump
Pump
Sender (original position)
Filter port out of crankcase, this is the OCA inlet, Relief valve (bouncing control valve for most engines, flows back to sump) This is from area under OCA or filter if OCA isn’t fitted.
If OCA or TOCA fitted through cooler. With early OCA (drilled bypass) and TOCA some (or all in case of TOCA) bypasses cooler.
From cooler or toca bypass into filter (outside)
next out of filter (centre) to feed oil gallery
Sender (new position) is on end of gallery
The gallery runs the length of the engine and taps off through multiple channels to feed up to mains and prop bearing, from there big ends, small ends, pistons
Off the gallery is also tapped the feed to the rockers on those engines, this runs through a transverse pipe and drips onto the valve springs (outlet above each spring) and from there into bottom of rocker boxes where it runs down push rod tubes back into sump (this was an area of much discussion during the mid noughties).
And off the gallery is the multiple feed down to the hydraulic lifters which we are learning so much about. From rod (socket) end of lifter it either drips away to sump (better with slotted end to rod) or feeds the:
hollow rods up into rockers to rocker shaft (nothing to valve guides apart from mist).
All over the moving parts any lost oil will return to the sump.
There you go, there is a good drawing in the later manuals, side view of crankcase. I suppose a schematic could be drawn.

This question may be off topic a bit but I will ask it anyway. Much has been discussed about the ‘best’ oil pressure sender position.
Question: Can someone please explain to me the path taken by the oil from the sump, returning back to the sump, with key passage points en-route, such as sender, oil filter, oil cooler, rocker chambers, etc, etc.? That will help me get a better understanding of where the high and low pressure areas are.

I moved my oil pressure sender off the engine entirely so it will not wear out with engine vibration. I plugged up the hole where the sender is "normally" located. I feed my sender via a line from the hole just below the "normal" hole. The hole provides pressure information AFTER the filter and the oil cooler.
There have been quite a few posts about this on the forum.

Only bit I would change is "hollow rods up into rockers to rocker shaft (nothing to valve guides apart from mist)."
There is a gallery in the rocker from the pushrod "seat" to the upper end above the valve stem so that most of the oil feed ends up emerging from the rocker above the valve stem. The system does not actually have a feed to the rocker shaft as the gallery is cut around the bore of the rocker and covered over by the bush. There is an modification to drill a small hole through the bush to provide an oil path from the gallery directly to the rocker shaft.
I could get into the hydraulic lifter discussion but my thought is that it is a bit sterile. Some people have passionate views on the advantages of mechanical vs hydraulic but there are millions upon zillions of these things happily going up and down in cars so I can't see why they wouldn't work in a humble Jabiru. I believe the Jabiru ones come out of a Chev, pretty basic engineering and not terribly touchy.

Hi Clive. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound corrective, just that I've seen enough of these things in bits to learn a few details.
Without modifying the rocker shaft bush most of the oil flow would end up issuing from the top of the rocker as that is the low resistance path. The rocker shaft would be lubricated from the dribble and splash effect. Drilling a hole in the bush provides a direct path to the rocker shaft but this would be relatively restricted by the fit of the bush on the shaft so most oil probably still ends up coming out the top of the rocker. Just to be clear, by "the top of the rocker" I mean the upper tip of the rocker as it sits in the engine. The gallery exits here, not on the inner face which contacts the valve stem.
