Hello All
I could not find the answer by searching. Could someone tell me if I reconnected the wingtip VOR antennas (not used-removed the Nav/Com and replaced with ICOM A210) to a handheld emergency radio would it work? The coax is presently unused and surplus. OR any better ideas??
Thanks Don

Does your hand held have a VOR-LOC function that you'd
like to exploit? The wingtip VOR antenna is best suited
to horizontally polarized VOR/LOC signals. It will function
on comm service but with degraded performance. Even so,
the external VOR antenna may be a better COMM antenna than
the rubber-duck used from within the cabin. There's no
risks in giving it a try.

You can go to plan-B if your experiments are disappointing.
Consider this option. Bone up on antennas in general here

Then consider hammering something like this together . . .

But if your wingtip VOR proves adequate to your needs, you're
good to go.
Bob . . .

Thanks Bob. I would only be use the COM as emergency backup. Will give it a try.
Thanks again
Don
