Are fiberglass wingtips available for the Mark III Classic?
Also, would like to exchange info with anyone who has installed Puddlejumper floats on a Mark III Classic...
Thanks!

Hi, Jack,
I met a guy at Sun and Fun who installed
Puddle Jumper floats on a MK III. The email
address he gave me didn't work when I tried
to follow up with him, but he lives in Connecticut,
I believe, and he said the folks from Puddle Jumper
came to him and worked out the mounting system.
They should be able to put you in touch with him.
He said the floats work great.

Dave,
That's great news. I have been in contact with Puddlejumper Floats (Patrick Vinet, Pres./CEO) about the install. He has been extremely helpful even though I haven't spent a dime with his company (yet) as I bought these floats second-hand. It would just be nice to exchange information with someone who has actual experience installing/flying the floats before I venture down that path... Still trying to decide if I want to keep the floats in the AMPHIB configuration I bought then in, or lose the weight by removing the gear as I plan to T-O/Land on water 99.9 % of the time. IMHO.... Floats are a requirement when flying in the Keys as there is much more water here, than land and/or airports.
I will contact Patrick again and see if has any contact information on the fella from CT.
Thanks again for the reply.

Jack,
IMO, lose the wheels on the floats, since you don't expect to need them much, and check with Travis at
Kolb Aircraft regarding the fiberglass wing tips. They "did" offer them at some point, so I assume they can still
get them if you want to install them. A few guys have installed OEM & non-OEM wing tips, me included.
Heckava lot of work to build your own, that's for sure. Hardly worth the trouble. Better to buy them from Kolb Aircraft.

Thanks Mike. I'll give Kolb a call about the fiberglass wingtips. The MK3C I purchased was ground looped and the right Wingtip needs repair. Much easier to repair with a fiberglass tip and to rebuild the damaged area...
I agree with 'losing the wheels' on the floats. Easier to lose weight by removing the gear rather than on a treadmill :-=)...
