My prop is really staring to look bad. The paint is fading and the leading edges are starting to show signs of age and use. Can the prop be painted by an A/P or is that just asking for balancing issues? Will it require being sent off for remanufacture?

When I had my prop repitched by Sensenich, they insisted on redoing the paint before handing it back to me. They didn't charge for paint job and they didn't do any balance work.

The Type Certificate Data Sheet says what paints are supposed to be used. None of those paints are available at Home Depot. When I looked into the proper paint (about 20 years ago) I found Polane polyurethane paint.
AC 20-37E
(9) For safety and glare reduction for conventional single-engine tractor type aircraft, keep the blade backs painted flat black and the propeller tips painted with the appropriate colors to ensure good visibility. Repaint blades equally so that the balance of the propeller is not disturbed. Pusher props may have unique paint color requirements for good visibility for ground personnel. Refer to the propeller manufacturer’s maintenance documents.
AC 20-37E
(5) Do not paint over areas of corrosion on blades. Corroded areas should be removed in accordance with approved procedures prior to applying the approved protective finish.
Most people simply paint over the corrosion on the face. I see a lot of this. Have the prop overhauled if it's that bad. Based on what I see, the typical MTBO is about 1000 hours.

So how is it that you would get out of a AA5 if the canapoy is stuck during some sort of an accident?
I have heard of people carrying hatchets inside the plane but not sure if that would suffice.
