David Kruger has several videos on youtube about forming partnerships its very interesting stuff
the best partner is 50 50 thats $50saved for every $100 incured but the 3rd guy only saves you $17 moor. think about it. how many moor people would fly if it cost them half as much. probbly moor than twice as many.

Nothing wrong with sharing a plane.its done all the time.Gliding syndicates arequite usual.Boaters too.
Keep it simple. Everyone put in the same amount. Agree who can fly on what day at the beginning of the season.
Best syndicate I was ever in was an Olympia 2. There were 12 of us and we each put in £100. We were all at the same stage of training, just gone solo so it was unlikely that one person was a good enough pilot to fly much longer than anyone else.We all paid equally for insurance, C of A and other running costs etc although some members would rather do the actual work and trade that off against their share of the cost. Not difficult with a bit of goodwill.
The best rule was that if you moved on, resigned or whatever, you left your share behind.. People who left were down £100 which was not really enough to get too upset about, and the ones who remained enjoyed the increased availability and picked up a slightly larger share of the operating costs.. I think that when we finally sold the plane there were only about 4 or 5 of us left in the syndicate and we shared out equally whatever we sold it for. I dont think that would work if we had paid several thousand for a share of course.
Where you lose of course is that when it is a nice day all the members want to fly. This MUST be scheduled beforehand for the entire season. If you want the plane for a week yourself and it is not your `day` then you just do a deal with whoever holds the days involved and swap around. Not impossible.
Certain amount of trust involved and you need to know the other members reasonably well.
Cheers
Pat

I was in a twelve member Cessna 172 Flying Club. The plus side, few ever used the plane. I used it often. On the downside, an inexperienced member pushed the plane into the vertical support hangar beams and downtime on getting horizontal stabilizer parts was all summer.
You need good chemistry, so pick your partners well, have good insurance and know what you are getting yourself into, a signed flying club policy contract with rules a must.
Good Luck

Like Chris says, Don't do it. Being a member of a club and sharing club planes is one things that works. Trying to purchase, build, and having everyone do there share is almost impossible. I have been there and done that with NO luck. In the end I did all the work and shelled out all the money with promises to pay his share when his plane was sold.
Once again, DON'T DO IT.

I would certainly agree with that. I never even considered that scenario
when this question came up. Operating shares in a complete aircraft which is
what I was referring to is a very different operation and perfectly workable

I once planned to build a BD-4 with a friend. He then asked me to look at a table lamp that kept blowing fuses. I found the two wires twisted together! --
He said 'don't they have to be touching each other?'
End of that building project.
