I was taught years ago in flight training to use flight service. My flight service experience has been underwhelming. I regularly fly but don't use it anymore. On occasion I will use DUAT but normally I just check the weather charts on my computer and smart phone. I also find pilotmycast very useful for weather and TFRs.
There is also a flight charting service that I get free by being a EAA member that is wonderful for cross country flying. You print a stack of charts for your flight path that are sized for a knee board. No more one handed in flight refolding of charts. They are always the most current charts so you don't need to pay for updated charts and they even have TFR info printed on them.
Just got back to Michigan for the summer and need to pull the trusty Kolb back to the airport.
Again worth what you paid for it.
