There is a petition on the White House website asking for an explanation of the proposed $100 user fee. There needs to be 25,000 signatures for the White House to respond. They are 23,000 + short. Sign up if you would like an explanation of how they came up with the $100 fee. There is a May 16 deadline to raise the required number of signatures. I copied the address off the White House website:

I went to the site a moment ago. "This section of our site is currently undergoing maintenance."

I had best not get started!

I tried but the site would not let me sign a petition, all I could do was
edit/change user info. I don't think they want any input - government as
usual I'd say.

OK, that worked but it looks like we need about 22,000 signers to make this work.

Albert;

Sortofa strange way to do it, but after I created an account and edited the password to my likings, I reduced then window (I did not close it) and went back to my email where I clicked on Sheldon's link. Worked perfectly.

Good luck!

I've signed the petition but being the cynic that I am of the current occupants of the White House, I kept wondering if this is a ploy to be able to get a list of who belongs to which groups! I guess if we start receiving emails from them I'll have my answer.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

This isn't a survey by the Whitehouse....it's a petition forced on the Whitehouse by Aviators. I'm sure they would rather not have it.
You very likely WILL get an email from them arguing their point, but that's about it. I'm proud to be on any list arguing against stupid user fees that are best handled with fuel tax.

You will get e-mails from the White House.  They won't overflow your inbox and you can opt out after they start coming.

Another cynic,

Lyle

That petition only got 8904 signatures. That is short of the 25000 needed for this petition. However I recall that only 5000 signatures were needed to have a petition considered. Have they raised the bar or have I lowered my recall?

Added one more vote.

Progress again after about a year of waffling whether to sell.

Mazda 20B installed, exhaust mfld done, intake mfld need final welding next week, then design oil cooler mount and make hoses for oil & water cooling. Only 6 more months, IF I keep my nose to the grindstone !!
