Barry & All,
I saw this "Turbo Commander" while I was in Mexico international airport; sorry for the quality of the picture, it was taken from my window seat... I can see it's from the INIFAP: http://www.inifap.gob.mx/
which is a forestry institute (I guess they have the right airplane!) it seems to be registered under: XC-IF A This was seen on March 18, 2012, I apologies for the late notice
There was also an abandoned Commander at the end of one of the strips when I landed from a national flight. I don't have the time right now to check out where was I exactly, but I noticed it on the "graveyard" part of the airport.
I am unfortunately most likely not going to be able to make it this year to the Fly-In, I will be in the process of moving. My significant other has accepted a job with UC Santa Cruz and I will be tagging along.
It's with mixed feelings that I am exchanging Maumee Bay for Monterrey Bay but no doubt we'll end up in a more prestigious institution and should be a career improvement for both of us. The sad news is that we have to sell a 5 bedroom house in Toledo and our 1 bedroom apartment in DC in order to barely afford a 2 bedroom house! (and therefore my Aero Commander dreams gets postponed even further into the future...)
For those who are doubtful about the Fly-in I can't tell you what a great meeting you are missing; I'm truly sad I won't see you guys.
Reno was fantastic the first time and sure will be a special event this year with all the rumors about shutting it down. I'll miss you all but hopefully I'll make it to the one in DC? (ironically enough)
To the rest of the group, plan to attend the Fly-in, you WON'T regret it, you'll feel part of a family that is not shy of sharing it all about Commanders. I also share this personal information with the core group who makes this fly-in possible, as well as the survival or several Aero Commanders.
If you remotely plan on owning a Commander it's a great opportunity to learn about the plane and the people who knows how to operate and maintain them.
Don't miss it!
Take care you all!

Ah, Peter - but you'll like it in California. Just think of all those bone crunching freezes you've had in Toledo during the winters.. Besides, there's a nice straight 560 based at Monterey. And it's just 10mins in the 520 to go have lunch with Morris.
