concerning the fabric seal riveted to the metal retainer strip in the CJ cockpits. This strip does not seem to be riveted to the underlying canopy / front window bow. If that is correct how is it properly removed?
Thank you,

Good afternoon
Drill the solid rivets out of the retaining strip and it will part company with the frame.
On the front cockpit its riveted to the front screen surround, and for the rear cockpit its riveted to the front bow of the sliding canopy but removal is the same for both.
I know of a firm (Based in the UK) called Woolies that can supply an exact replacement for this seal.

I believe I used soft (SO) rivets instead of the hard AN 470's when I reassembled mine as the metal is quite thin Worked well.

Did you build a jig to align the canopy frame after you drilled out the rivets and discarded the old glass?

Thanks Rich

he rivets in question do not go through any plexiglass and can be drilled out with the glass in place.

Here's the link to the Woolies website who sell the canopy seal.
I dont recall the exact dia of the seal that I used (please check before ordering) but this link is for the 8mm dia cross section seal. (They also sell 6mm and 10mm)
The skirt of the new seal needs to be cut back with scissors before fitting and I secured mine with some contact adhesive.
For re-assembly rivets I used the smallest automotive ali pull through ones which worked fine and look need and tidy.
