Please be very careful of anything that will introduce Carbon Monoxide into the cockpit. The Jab 3300 on my airplane has 6 built in leaks at the joints between the pipes and muffler. It was very hard to seal the firewall positively against leaks. Even one small leak can be disastrous. In straight and level flight I did not have a problem BUT while circling a friends hangar about 3 times ( high angle of attack and 85 MPH ) my CO card turned very black ( indicating imminent death ) and I got a terrible headache. Please be sure your connections to and from the cabin heat are sealed. I found a very small opening in the factory fast build fuselage just below the lower right engine mount on three 601's.
I have since sealed the exhaust joints and firewall and had no further problem but still do not trust them not to leak.
The very inexpensive CO monitor my have save me.

I have also experienced CO2 in the cockpit from leaky jab exhaust, but nothing to do with the heat muff.
My plan is to use a muff that sits on a clean piece of pipe away from any welds- and then ducts uncontaminated air.
