The air show I am flying only has #2 stove oil for smoke oil. It smells like kerosene and is very thin and clear. Can I use this in my Sukhoi for smoke oil straight or will I be on fire? There is some # 15 clear hydraulic oil around that I can mix it with, but only enough to add 1/3 of each tank amount. Anyone know?

I have used diesel; it smoked good but it stinks. I stopped using diesel after knowing diesel's flash point is only 126F to 205F.I then switched to baby oil. It is mostly mineral oil which has a flash point around 335F. Plus its smokes smell good. Big Lots has the best price at $1.50/14oz (about $13.71/gl). Here is a video burning baby oil: http://youtu.be/-foOOtNA5S8

Rick,
I have used bio-diesel as well however, the unburnt portion that remains on the aircraft acts as a great paint stripper.
Diesel will smoke because there is very little O2 in the exhaust. Pump it in at the Y or near the end of the exhaust and it could flame. My injectors are between 7&8 3&4. The longer the burn time in the exhaust the more smoke you get on less oil used. A simple ball valve in the cockpit can regulate the flow rate so practices will produce thinner more affordable smoke, leaving show performances at full SMOKE ON.
