Lake Taho would be quite a drive woudn't it? Unless you are talking abo=
ut
Minden/Taho airport just south of Carson City. Then you are about an hou=
r
drive away. What is wrong with Reno or Stead? Stead is where the air ra=
ces
are, so if you arrive after the event starts, you would be better off at
Reno.=0D

Bill,

Last year I flew up for the races with my father in
his A-36, and we are doing it again this year. We
flew into Carson City, and we stayed in Reno. We
found that Carson City had better fuel prices and
tiedown rates than Truckee. Tahoe is a bit far of a
drive from Reno, if you're going to the air races for
3 or 4 day.

Getting in and out of Reno or stead requires a reservation even before and after the race. Tahoe is a longer drive, but, I think it is worth it. Don

I live in North Lake Tahoe. Drive to Stead is about 50 minutes. Add 25-30
more from South Lake Tahoe.

Drive from Truckee to Stead is also probably 50 minutes. Reno will have
lots of rooms available, cheap, but parking at RNO is tight during the air
races. MEV, TRK, TVL are all easy to get into during the races.

Bill,
You always have the option of flying into Reno/Tahoe International but you
do have to enter the traffic of heavy iron. Don't know if your comfortable
with that. A lot have used CXP-Carson City Airport and have used rental cars
for the couple days there here.
As well they have stayed local at the Pinion Plaza Hotel Resort. Hotel,
food, gaming and even a bowling alley all under the same roof.

During the Races it looks like a RV fly-in at the airport. Cool for us
builders to eyeball finished planes and gather ideas. Google the airport to
see what we've got. I haven't yet. Carson City is about 45 min's from Stead
Airport.

Take Care,
Bruce G.
