I'm looking for reasonably inexpensive jack solutions for an RV-7A. I know I could google "RV airplane jack" but there are far too many people named "jack" building these things. :*)

Also, and not at all related to the question, the RV-7A came home this weekend after 40 hours of flight testing at a secret location (OK, it was Stein & Jed's hangar at LVN). So we gave rides.

and we've been talking about this among the not-finished community for a few months -- a builder's motivation program for people who are building RVs to match people with those with flying RVs for periodic rides to zip people through those difficult periods when it seems like the plane will never get finished. It's true, builders could ASK for a ride, but a lot of people don't want to ASK. Instead, my idea assigns several builders to an RV pilot who would provide a ride once a year or so and be available for "emergency therapy."

Anyway, it's an idea I've been kicking around and wonder if there's anything around being done like it.

In the meantime, if there are builders in Wisc/Iowa/Minnesota in need of a shot in the arm, let me know.

Search VAF for Harbor Freight jacks you should find nice wing jack made with Harbor Freight cylinders. There are plenty of other types but I've found that a wing jack is the best. You only need one. Do one side at a time.

Bob,

It's funny that you mention that!  My buddy Bryan (RV-8 builder) and I were just talking about this last night!  As builders, we were bemoaning the fact that it's hard to find money to rent while building, but that it's very important to stay motivated by "getting up" every now and then.  We left the conversation with an agreement to look into sharing time in a rental every so often to keep each other current and engaged.  I like your idea too about the RV community assigning "motivational mentors."  This could bring a whole new level of involvement to EAA chapter members who are flying.  By the way, congrats on having your bird out of Phase 1.  I hope you get to keep her for a long time.
