I just recently bought a CJ-6 and I am trying to make sure I am in compliance with the FAA. Through some reading I found that I am supposed to submit (to the local FSDO) a Program Letter indicating any events or air shows I may be attending for the year. Does anyone have a generic copy of such a letter that I can borrow? I could not find one. Also, in the order I was reading (FAA Order 8130.2G) it mentioned that with an experimental airworthiness certificate I may need to provide a copy of an FAA approved inspection program if required. How do I find out if I am required or not? If I am required do you happen to know where I can get a template for a CJ-6 inspeciton program?
Thanks,
Tom
PS. Thanks to everyone for the advise on my air leak. I'm going to tackle that problem this weekend, I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Tom,
Email me off list and I will send you a copy of my program letter on Monday from my office.
Re FAA Order 8130.2G, please note that FAA issued a Deviation to Order which may or may not matter to you. In my case, my local FISDO (LAX) told me I was not to operate my CJ until a new OL is issued. That means weeks if not months of down time plus thousands to pay a DAR. I called EAA and was provided a copy of the Deviation to Order which took away local FISDO' s power to demand new OL when change ownership or homebase.

Robin, really good point.
Tom, it is also worth knowing that while the local FSDO can re-write the Operating Limitations to bring the verbiage into the proper format in accordance with 8130.2G, they can not ADD more limitations to the ones that are already listed from the previous owner.
In addition, you can also request the removal of the 300 NM operating limitation when you go through this process. In order to do that, you will need to present letters to the FAA that details the FAA's own orders pertaining to this request on your part. Someone might have them handy on this list, or you might try the archives, but the EAA is a TERRIFIC source of info and they are more than willing to help. I really have developed a tremendous respect for the EAA.
No matter what aircraft I end up owning, or for that fact .. none at all ... I will always be a member of the EAA and for that matter, we probably all should be!
On the matter of Program Letters: I would not advise listing every airshow in the country. Depending on the FSDO, they can get rather "irked" at folks who do that. Instead just pick ones that you realistically would like to attend..... somewhere around 3-6 seems to be about right. The 5 day travel leeway suggestion was also a good idea!
In addition, I always add words to the effect of: "And any additional events that may come up which will be detailed in an amendment letter sent to your office". In effect, you do not have to ask permission to go anywhere, but you DO have to advise the FAA when you do, by use of an Amendment Letter that you simply fax to their office and keep a copy on file for yourself. Of course if you get the 300 NM Operating Limitation removed, it becomes an interesting discussion of exactly when an Amendment Letter would be needed. My thought would be only when going to an actual airshow or event.
