Yea, I had wondered how much a labeling machine was. I figured it would be expensive.
A while back I bought an engine analyzer and it had shrink sleeve labels They seemed to work OK. THey didn't shrink around the wire real well and moved around. But, I think that will be my choice. I tried a regular labeler with vinyl tape and folded it around the wire. Some worked, some didn't.
Thanks for the info.

While wiring my RV-10 I tried two approaches. First I printed labels and cut them out, wrapped the 'print' around the wire and put clear heat-shrink over it. Worked OK but was time consuming. Second I used a ultra-fine point sharpie and wrote the label on white heat-shrink and then shrunk it on the wire. That worked out best and I stuck with it.

I hadn't used the Kroy ..... they've been making printers for ICs to wires for a long time. I tried a friends Brother label-maker with the hear-shrink cartridge ..... and the results were less than satisfactory and still time consuming. As I remember the Kroy machine was more than $500 and the cartridges were pricey too. I can make a crappy (but readable) wire label a whole lot cheaper!!!

We use them at work to label network cables. They work very nicely.
