regarding "overfill" - I agree. Did you believe the pressure guage?
Maybe it is in error and indeed the pressure was higher and you did have
an overfill situation. OTOH could also be O-ring deterioration. If
pressure was "down" maybe that is why it was.

MOST NITROGEN BOTTLES HAVE GAGES WHICH ALTHOUGH NOT CALIBRATED CAN BE USED FOR A ROUGH CHECK OF YOUR GAGE WHEN FILLING. HYDRAULIC FLUID IN THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS A POSITIVE INDICATION OF A LEAK IN THE GEAR ACTUATOR.(HYDRAULIC/PNEUMATIC).
