While at the recent Sebring LSA Expo show, Nick and Mark convinced me to write another issue of the Lightning Newsletter (they are much too busy for doing that task on a regular basis). So I'm planning on doing one more Lightning Newsletter sometime between now and Sun N Fun. I'll be covering the Lightning presence at the Sebring Light Sport Expo, recent "factory" news and any other inputs I get from the current dealers and email list readers. So if you have something you would like included, please send it directly to me at:
N1BZRich(at)aol.com (N1BZRich(at)aol.com)
I will use the same basic format that I used when I wrote the first 36 issues, but if anyone has other suggestions, I'll consider new things as well. Of course the same basic newsletter goal is just to get the word out on anything involving the Lightning community. Let me hear from you.
Dealers, I especially would like updated inputs from all of you.
Builders and flyers, any tech tips, building suggestions or flying stories would be greatly appreciated.
Blue Skies,
Buz Rich

Buz,
You might want to do an article on the Spar Box Service Bulletin. I'll send you pictures of mine and the new structure as soon as I get a chance. I am going to begin disconnecting electronics today at lunch time. I don't have a lot of time to work on it, but I'll get it done eventually.
Have a wonderful day,
Dennis

Dennis,
Good idea. I look forward to getting your photos and words on your new structure. I will probably try to get the issue completed near the end of February.

I have had very few responses (only two at this time) to this email requesting inputs for another issue of the Lightning Newsletter. So once again, if you are building or flying a Lightning, I'd like to include your "words of wisdom" or anything of interest that you might like to be included. Also, dealers, this is a chance for free advertising for your dealership, so let us know what you have been up to. Since both Greg and Max were at Sebring, I certainly would like some inputs from them. Max, some photos of your and Olena's new baby girl would be great!!!!.
I will probably try to wrap up this issue near the end of Feb and get it out near the middle of March, so plan on using 1 March as a deadline.
Blue Skies,
Buz

Hey Buz: I had submitted a couple items to Mark last year. He may have them in his computer. With my terrific memory (Ha!) I do not at this moment remember what they were.

Hi Buz, How about some inside information on the new horizontal stabilizer. I have been very interested in the concept since I first
learned of it’s existence. All in the interest of making a good thing better! How much and when. Bob Haas, kit 71 N330BH.

Buz,there have been many running changes to the kit/building process , a review covering what, why, and how could help the fleet be current with the latest and greatest. Also, has anyone solved the landing gear shimmy issue;if yes, then how. Can you share any info on the anti-turbulence /smooth ride development program you have been working on. The Lightning has attracted many high time professional pilots, could they contribute some lessons learned related to the Lightning operation or general experiences for safer flying.Experimental aircraft is about "experimenting",could we get these brave souls to share what they have tried ,what worked and what didn't and why. Go fast less gas has to be tops on everyone's list, what real results are beaning achieved on items such as the Hackman, electronic fuel injection, mechanical injection, props, gap seals, the least drag wheel pants etc. Going places, more contributions from the owners covering trip planning, getting there, and the destination. Thanks for all you do,Charles

Hi Charles (and all other Lightning community members),
Good suggestions. I'll provide a limited update (it is still a proprietary program) on the Active Ride Improvement System, and will send the other suggestions to the factory guys. I agree that an overall update on the Lightning changes like Nick provided at the October Homecoming would be good. And of course it is always good to have inputs from any Lightning builder of flyer.
Please remember that when I put the past newsletters (and this one) together, I am mostly an editor or publisher and depend on the readers to provide the articles. If I had a magazine "staff" of writers it would be much easier, but putting out the newsletter is a voluntary job, so I'm limited on the amount of time I can devote to it. Even though it is a time consuming endeavor, it is rewarding as well.
If someone would agree to take over the newsletter on a permanent basis then I feel certain the inputs from readers, builders and flyers would again start coming in without too many reminders, but since there has been no issue for a year, I'm having to "beg" for inputs at this time. The next issue is starting to come together and my goal is still to get it published before Sun N Fun.
But what we really need is someone to take on the newsletter task on a regular basis. So how about it, do we have someone out there that wants to become "a famous aviation writer, editor and publisher"? Here is your chance. Volunteer to become the next Lightning Newsletter Boss. You will get a chance to meet lots of interesting people, travel to exotic places, make lots of money, meet beautiful people, and have all your other "imaginary dreams" come true. What a deal. Volunteer now.
Blue Skies,
Buz

Hey Buz: I had submitted a couple items to Mark last year. He may have them in his computer. With my terrific memory (Ha!) I do not at this moment remember what they were.

Blue Skies,
Buz

Subject: Re: Another Lightning Newsletter issue

Buz

Quote: | While at the recent Sebring LSA Expo show, Nick and Mark convinced me to write another issue of the Lightning Newsletter (they are much too busy for doing that task on a regular basis).
Blue Skies,
Buz Rich
