Roger and others.
I have been flying this engine, 912ULS, 2000 model year about 1 year, 635 hours total on the engine. One cold day this winter I started getting a high oil pressure alarm intermittently? Oil temps running consistent 160 degrees, 60psi, OAT in the 40's. Warm up is normal, fly for a little while and I will start getting a high pressure warning on my GRT EIS. It will show low 90's for a few seconds then bounce around between 60 and 90 occasionally going over 90 and triggering the alarm. I can find no pattern? I changed the oil to a lighter weight oil (not filter yet) as a test but no difference? What are the possibilities? If it was going low I would be more concerned. It has happened each of the past three flying weekends but only occasionally.
Thanks ahead of time.

Hi Dennis,
Four common items to look at here and none a big deal.
First the oil pressure wire may be loose on the sender so make sure it is tight. The second item here that cause high pressure swings is a poor ground. This is another very common problem. Check your grounds. The third item is the sender itself is usually the culprit. Go to egauges.com and buy a new one for about $30 if the wire wasn't loose. Third you have a 13 year old engine. You may want to change the oil pressure regulator ball bearing, spring and plug screw to the newer style regulator cone. It's about $80 and takes 5 minutes to change.
It will be one of these.

Dennis, I had the same thing in the middle of nowhere in
rural France and my Flydat was much aggravated! It turned
out that the wire to the sender was broken - the no signal
default reading being a high pressure, so odds on it being
a wiring defect.

It is the 360-004 for the single pole (single wire) sender
and the 360-430 for the double pole (two wire) sender. Both are 0-150 psi senders.
The fuel sender is the 360-043 0-30 psi.

Don't rule out the EIS. GRT make a great product, but my EIS gets grumpy in cold weather and the altimeter resets to -2,850 ft. I'd have thought subterranean flying would be darker, but I can see no difference except that the altimeter reading gets smaller as I ascend.
