Two years ago on the 13th of Jan. I went for my first flight after retirement in late December. After a nice trip around the area I came back to the field. On short final I found the plane in a forward slip to the left. I touched the right rudder and put the tail behind me. At about 15' off the runway the plane lost its lift and dropped to the runway hard. It bounced nose hi and weather vained some to the left. It came down and I shoved the stick forward to hold the nose down and gave it some right rudder but no response. Thwe stripe is very narrow and right infront of me was a 3' high berm of ice and snow. Well the plane flipped and landed on her back side rather hard. I walked away with no injury other than my brused pride.
I have spent the last 6 months rebuilding which included repairing some structural damage to the fuselage, rebuilding one wing and a new lift struct. As of today I have just finshed installing the wings. I am rather please how it has turned out so far. I am using Polyfiber aerothane - Cub Yellow.
KitfoxLLC built one new strut and was very helpful. Thanks to Debra and John.
