Colin:

I have a few tricks you can try - They are dependent on how your breather tube is configured and how the engine is mounted:
  1. Coming off the engine use a flexible rubber hose and put a "pigtail" in the   run.  A 360 Deg circle.
  2. Again with the flexible hose install a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) Valve as HIGH as possible in the tube above the height of the engine and make sure the check valve points down in the closed position.
  3. If you have say a 5/8" hose for the breather tube - Reduce it near the end tio half the size.  You can use a step type fitting.
  4. Face the Breather Hose INTO the oncoming wind.
  5. And of course you can use any combination of this ideas.

I ran mine into a cut off plastic bottle mounted just behind the cabin
enclosure..

The answer is a air-oil separator, with the vent piped back up to
the filler pipe. Spruce has small units for sale. "Old technology."

I believe so I fly a 3300 and a 2200. There is no oil film on the belly on either aircraft. I have the separator can plumed in to the oil drain
fitting on the sump. The crank case vent is in the normal filler tube on the top of the motor.

Bob,
Now I see what you have there.The line in your post that said (piped back up to the filler pipe) gave me the wrong impression.Your under the cowl installation is much neater.Mine requires no plumbing and is just as effective but it is not handsome hanging out in the breeze with the rest of the engine.
