I am building a SS7 and am getting ready to fab and install the adjustable rudder pedals. One question I have while reading the plans, I don't see how you space the inboard pedal so the 2 bolts holding the adjustable pedal control wheels do not contact each other. It seems that the bolt heads will hit after you install the plastic bushings and drill the assembly to keep your 1/32" side to side clearance.

What am I missing? Picture attached.

Thanks

Mike,
Not sure if anyone has had an opportunity to help you yet, I am in the
middle of replacing my rudder cables on my Model 5, so I am working with the
very items you have concern with. I will snap a shot of my standoffs for the
pulleys next time I'm at the hanger. From what I remember, my screw heads
have clearance and the only difference from your pic is the bushing you have
laying in front of your shaft is installed on mine and seems to help create
the separation you are looking for.

Hi Lloyd,

Thanks for the reply. I am going to sand off the paint and install the bushings, but from looking at it, it doesn't appear the bushing will give me enough spacing. Maybe once I assemble it, it will become more clear.

Where in northern Mi are you? I'm at 26W near Jackson.

26W???? That's practically my backyard....do I know you, Mike? I fly
in there from time to time with my orange Kitfox IV, and have done so
on wheels and skis. I didn't know there was a Kitfox being built in
the area.

Hello Mike,
I'm at KIMT Ford Airport, out of Iron Mountain in the upper peninsula. , I
have yet to make it back to the hanger, so I have no pics of my peddles to
share, it has been a rough week at work, looking forward to the weekend.
Also, I see you have a little experience with RV's, my hanger partner has an
RV-7A, he is pushing 600 hours flying time on it, it is a hoot to fly in.

To circle back, I forwarded my note to John McBean. He said there are a few builders who have the problem I mentioned and they have created a bushing with a wider flange to ensure the bolt head clearances. He is going to send me out a set! Sounds like I'm all set.

Thanks
