Can anyone explain the best method for jacking up the kitfox, and the suggested jack points? I have in the past lifted the wing were the strut joins the spar and having a friend place a saw horse under the spring! is there a better method?

Thanks

Ray

Ray,

Not knowing your intended purpose in jacking, I offer the following. When I
need to service a wheel, I use a transmission jack - just a long ram on a
dolly that I put casters on- and jack as you suggest. I put a piece of
tubing on the end of the ram and pad it. It fits over the tiedown ring for
stability. When I went from the bungee gear to the spring gear, I lifted
the tail and had my wife put a specially constructed saw horse under the
lift strut carry through and hung enough weight on the tail to hold the tail
wheel on the ground - sort of like a teeter totter with the heavy guy on one
end.

I would highly recommend fabricating the lift strut attachment made by
Cessna. If you have tube gear then that wont work. A small car jack will
also work just under the strut end.

on our kitfox V we clamp two boards (one on each side) on the landing gear
strut and use them to jack it up with a bottle or screw jack. That gives
access to one brake and tire.

Is that a Grove gear or Tube and Fabric?

We clamped the two boards on each side (top and bottom of the Grove gear
strut but should work on any of them, even tubes.
