Hi
I have established a new Aerobatics International Forum – www.aerobaticsinternational.com
This Forum has not been established with the purpose of being an enterprise or to replace what is already out there by the way of associations, other forums and clubs. The Forum has no affiliation with any aerobatic club or association.
I am an Australian based aerobatic pilot and builder, not really good at either but enjoy them. I have been addicted to the sport since 1993.I see the aerobatic community as truly international and newcomers into the sport are declining. I am not talking declining membership to a particular organisation or club but the sport in general. I don't know the reasons for this across the globe but I see the need for the free and open sharing of information that the public can access, ask questions and seek encouragement to give it a try. It can only help.It is truly an international sport regardless of where you fly. I have attempted to make this an international forum where, as an example, someone in Germany can take a look at what is going on in New Zealand - share ideas, common interests, tips and general encouragement. It’s a big world out there.
I have included some of the following: - Category for Airshow Performers to post details about themselves, aircraft, events etc. There is no specific order – you will be included in the order of asking.
- Forums for each IAC Chapter I could find. If you want your chapter removed, please let me know and I will take it down immediately.
- Free Classifieds – no need to pay “supporting member” fees to post an ad.
- Category for Flight Training Organisations, post details of your FTO for all to see.
- Category for “Ask a Pro”, this is essentially for people new to the sport, recreational, competition or airshow pilots to post a questions for a seasoned in the sport to answer.
- Logo design competition – win a prize. The forum looks pretty bland and I have as much artistic talent as a XX. Any help here would be appreciated.
- I have included a category on “getting started” in the sport. This is empty at the moment – if you have the time, it would be appreciated if you could post in here information for newcomers to read, personal experiences how you got started – anything that is going to help.
- There is a category for links to aerobatic builder sites, forums, blogs etc
- Aircraft specific forums, general information about the different aircraft bits
- Category for Glider Aerobatics – I have no idea what to include there, its not something I have exposure too.
- Section for IAC, CIVA and Judges if they want to use it and choose to be active in the community – again, happy to remove any category I have setup.
I am happy to include any other category or forum if its going to help the aerobatic community overall.
When you first log into the forum, it may come up with all the categories open. On the right hand side of the category title you can collapse it all up and of course the reverse.
Unlike other forums, when you post the content or information is not owned by the forum, me or anyone. It is a mechanism to share information only so when you post, it belongs to the community. The forum (me) will not be held liable for any information posted. I am not a technical guy; I have had a friend build the site for me. It is not sponsored and I will be funding it myself for the greater good of the community - I will divert some Avgas money into the forum! If you do feel generous then feel free to chip in and make a donation. If costs get out of control for me, I may look at seeking advertising sponsors or something like that – at this stage I don’t think it will be required. There will be no Google ads ever – they are intrusive and a general pain in the butt. This forum may or may not work, call it idealistic but I thought I would give it a try anyway - if it doesn't work I will shut it down.
If you think the forum has potential, please be active in registering, posting and promoting the forum.
Feedback is always appreciated.
Andrew
