I have a 5 and vary between full and one notch. My experience with the stock elevator and not having the interconnect mod, is that the stick forces are fairly high and I have to use a lot of effort to get the tailwheel down first or in a three point.
hope this helps

Hello fellow Kitfoxers!
Looking to see if there is anyone out there that has any experience landing a Model 5 with the flaperons in the second (full) flap notch setting.

Steve,
Thanks for the reply, not sure I am familiar with the interconnect mod? To date I have only landed with the first notch of flap and would like to start working with the second or full, my hesitation is that I feel I may run out of elevator. What are you using for an approach speed for each position?
Lloyd

Lloyd ,
I'm using 65-70 downwind, 62 base, 60 final and 52 over the fence with touchdown at about 43. I do have vg's (STOL Speed) and my plane with full flaps refuses to stall it mushes at 38 indicated with 500fpm
Check the KitFox catalog you'll find there is a retrofit mod that is supposed to reduce the stick forces when using full laps. I've gotten used to my 5 and just have to remember to pull the stick all the way to my gut to three point it.

Steve,
Are these numbers with one notch of flap or two? Or do you use the same numbers for either? Your numbers look very similar to mine with one notch, I am working on getting my final down to 55. You mention about the stick pressure, I think the mod you are referring to might be the adjustable spring tension mod for the stick that I have heard of, I also have a lot of stick pressure on final. Â Is your 5 equipped with the jackscrew for adjusting the angle of the horizontal stabilizer?

Thanks - i have a IV and my speeds up to now have been about 10mph lower, maybe because my stall speed is also lower (currently 30mph indicated). I have just bought the same vg's as you and I'm keen to find out what effect they have on stall characteristics.
