I am considering using an "Egg" FWF on my "6", and would like to get some real time insight as to personal experiences of those who have them now. You can write or call. Thanks.

I can give you a good list of people who installed it and then had emergency landings and have pulled them out, if you’d like.

You can talk to my neighbor who put one in a Kitfox 11 years ago. Less than 100 hours and three engine out landings the plane has been in the hangar for the last 9 years.

For an independent opinion, call any insurance company and ask for rates for a RV-6 with this engine.

Carl

R.C.,
I can hook you up with a local builder that lost years on his build and finally got his Subi working only to experience very poor performance followed by several years or mods to obtain 60% of IO-360 performance. Ultimately did a full Lycoming engine replacement which cost way more time & money than just going with the Lycoming to start. Or I can refer you to the resale market for alternate engine RV sales where some flying RV’s sell for a HUGE discount to standard build RV’s.
The upside is you will likely be able to sharpen your off field landing skills.
The least expensive most dependable thing you can do is build to factory plans.
R.C., I am serious about connecting you with the local builder. 15 minutes with him will eliminate all those auto engine dreams in your head.

The only comment I would make is "Bad Idea..." Save your green stamps and get a real engine.

Yeah! Like a Mazda Rotary! But seriously, the Egg. has proven to be defective and that is according to the manufacturer. There are too many basic flaws in the FWF package to be fixable even if tinkering is part of the reason you are considering auto power.

Last I checked Jan now uses Honda engines..... Anyone?
Add me to the list, I knew a local guy who took out the Egg Subaru and replaced it with a Lycoming after years of frustration.

Big mistake!
Go to VAF and search the forums.
You will find lots of reasons not to.
