Pulsar Flyers,

Has anybody ever experience problems that seem to stem from the stator coil on a Rotax 582?

My ignition has gone completely flakie. Both mags and ground switches are fine. The rear mag connections for some reason do not fire the rear mag. The front mag white wire for charging the mag is open, should be a ground, so the front mag doesn't fire either. When I provide a separate ground to the white wire on the front mag, it works (plugs spark), sometimes. Sometimes being, I crank the engine and there are times there is continuous spark as the engine cranks as normal and the next time I may (and often) get no spark at all.

Any thoughts, ideas, or similar experiences, please share.

Thanks.

I don't have a clear picture but I helped diagnos a mag problem on a 912 that sounds similiar. There was a plastic connector near the mag and one of the wires had broken due to the extreme tension of some plastic ties holding them in place. Peeling back the shrink tubing between the mag and the connector gave me the ability to carefully tug on each wire and out came one.
